Who she is
Socorro knows her as Ms. Dee.
She moved to the area at 29 and put in years of local work before she started Mammi’s Cakes at home. Her youngest son and daughter-in-law designed the name. New Mexico certified her to sell baked goods to individuals.
A lot of what she bakes is given away. She donates to neighbors, seniors, and local offices, and she still barters now and then. Baking is how she stays in the life of the town.
She keeps prices meant for local wages. A double-layer German chocolate cake was once $25, and groceries have pushed her up a little since. That is not today’s price. Ask her what a cake costs now.
Sundays she rests, a habit from her grandfather. This page does not list hours, and she is not open on Sunday. Write her if you need something, and she can say whether she can bake it.
